Privacy Policy

If you use the contact form, we collect whatever you enter: your name, email address, and message. That goes to Web3Forms, a third-party form delivery service, which emails it directly to us. We don't store it in a database of our own.

If you sign up to be notified about a product in the lab, we collect your email address and add it to that product's list in Listmonk, a mailing list tool we run ourselves. We use it only to send you updates about that specific product.

Like most websites, we automatically collect some technical and aggregate traffic information when you visit: which pages you view, how you got here, roughly how long you spend on a page, your general location (country or region, not a precise address), and basic device and browser information. This runs for every visit, doesn't use cookies, and isn't tied to your individual identity.

Separately, and only if you accept the cookie banner shown on your first visit, we also use a tool that records how you actually interact with the site (mouse movement, clicks, and scrolling), generating a recording of that session and contributing to aggregate heatmaps of activity across visitors. This is opt-in: it doesn't run at all unless you accept, and you can decline or change your choice at any time (see “Cookies and similar technologies” below).

We don't use advertising or retargeting cookies, and we don't sell or share your data with advertisers.

The session-recording tool described above (Microsoft Clarity) only loads after you accept the cookie banner shown on your first visit. If you decline, it never loads, and nothing about your session is recorded. You can change your choice at any time using the “Cookie preferences” link in the footer of any page.

We rely on a small number of third-party services to run this site. Each processes some visitor data as part of doing its job:

• Cloudflare, for hosting, content delivery, security, and privacy-friendly aggregate traffic analytics (Cloudflare Web Analytics).
• Microsoft Clarity, for session recordings and click/scroll heatmaps, so we can understand and improve how the site works. Only loads if you accept the cookie banner.
• Web3Forms, to deliver contact form submissions to us by email.
• Amazon SES, as the email delivery service Listmonk uses to send product update emails to people who signed up for them.

We use it to respond to messages sent through the contact form, to send the product updates you specifically signed up for, and to understand how the site is used so we can improve it. We don't use it to build advertising profiles, and we don't sell it to anyone.

Product notification emails are single opt-in: signing up adds you immediately, no separate confirmation email required. Every email we send includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately.

We keep contact form submissions only as long as needed to respond to you. We keep your email address on a product notification list until you unsubscribe or we discontinue that product's list, whichever comes first.

We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold, including running our own infrastructure behind current TLS encryption and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

This site is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. Sproutly, one of the products described on this site, is designed for use by parents and teachers on behalf of children; the site itself does not collect any information about the children who use that product.

You can unsubscribe from any product notification list at any time using the link in any email we send. You can also contact us to ask what information we hold about you, or to request that we delete it, using the email address below.

This site is operated from the United States. If you're visiting from outside the United States, the services described above (including Cloudflare and Microsoft Clarity) may process your information in the United States or other countries as part of providing their service.

We may update this policy as the site or the services it relies on change. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the most recent update.
